Best for Side Sleepers: Heart of Vermont Wool Soft Pillow

Heart of Vermont PillowVisit Website

There’s no need to count sheep with our pick for best organic side-sleeper pillow – the Heart of Vermont Standard Size Wool Soft Pillow. People who sleep mostly on their sides typically need a firmer, more elevated pillow that materials like organic cotton and kapek don’t provide. Queue the sheep. We love this company for their eco-friendly approach. They shear all of their wool from organically fed sheep and clean it with no chemicals added. They also offer a Wool Firm version of this pillow for those who want slightly thicker support. The drawback? This is one darn expensive standard sized pillow! But if money is no object, we strongly recommend this pillow (and this small, family-owned company).

Pros

Cons

  • Excellent neck support
  • Wool shorn from organically fed sheep
  • 100% chemical free process
  • Company mission to grow and harvest products close to home (Vermont, of course) to reduce their carbon footprint and promote the local economy
  • Very expensive
  • Doesn’t come with a pillow case
  • Spot clean only

Pricing & Specs

  • $113 MSRP
  • 100% organic wool filling
  • Standard pillow size
  • 2″-3″ thickness

Best for Stomach Sleepers: Pure Rest Organic Cotton Pillow

People who sleep mostly on their stomachs need a firmer pillow to support their twisted necks. Organic cotton-filled pillows, like the Pure Rest, compress over time to provide that needed support. Pure Rest Organics has been producing bedding and baby products for more than 20 years – their pillows are high quality and all of their materials are organic certified. One thing we like about the Pure Rest is that you can choose the amount of filling (regular or thick), and you have the option of purchasing additional cotton batting to enhance your pillow if it becomes too compressed over time.

Pros

Cons

  • Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified organic cotton
  • Great neck support for stomach sleepers
  • Less expensive than other top quality organic pillows
  • Smooth breathable pillow case
  • Choose filling amount
  • Organic cotton is not naturally mold or bacterial resistant
  • Spot clean only

Pricing & Specs

  • $75.00
  • GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified cotton fill
  • 5 sizes with regular or heavy fill options

for me the best pillow is only the natural pillows. i consider it a far healthier choice that could help your well being overall. I was searching a lot about the right pillow for me and i recently bought 2 natural latex pillow from Coco-Mat brand and i think they completely changed the way i sleep. It s all made with natural materials, customized to my needs (if i recall correct, they have 13 different types to choose from) and they are super soft and comfortable. You should make a review for Coco-Mat brand as well, i m really curious to hear your opinion about it. check their website!

I’ve been having the worst neck and back pain and am very particular about my pillow but also believe in using natural products whenever possible. Given that I’m a vegan I refuse to use down pillows so these seem like a comfy and eco-friendly alternative.
