And then they often add chemicals along the way to allow them to ripen once they get to the stores so a green banana does not stay that way for long and can appeal to the eye at shelf to entice you to buy it. The local farmers market is a good place to find more nutrient-packed fruits and vegetables but often even they import from outside your growing region to provide you with what you want to buy so be sure to ask where and how it was grown and maybe even when it was picked. Limes do not grow naturally in New York in January or even in September so ask questions to be sure.
No matter what kind of food you eat, you’re bound to get tired of eating the same kinds of things every day. When you’re eating 7-13 servings of the same kinds of things, you’re sure to get sick of it a lot faster. Your grocer may have a wide variety of fruits and vegetables to choose from, but often the produce that is less expensive is that which is in-season and anything grown outside of the area you live in is going to be more expensive due to the cost of shipping.
