I’m worried about my fish – for the past month he has been laying around the bottom of his bowl and just recently I noticed four red lines (he’s a blue fish) on both sides of his gills. It’s kinda freaking me out. Have any ideas what it could be?

Madeleine – It sounds like your fish has swim bladder disease. Here’s a link to this same site which explains various betta fish diseases causes and potential cures. https://www.earthsfriends.com/betta-fish-diseases/#diseases. Mine has the same problem and came here to see what the problem was. Sounds like over feeding one cause for this problem.
